About & History

Women's Oklahoma Golf Hall of Fame

MISSION

The Women’s Oklahoma Golf Hall of Fame honors individuals who have made significant contributions of their time, talent and resources to promote the game of golf among the women of Oklahoma.  The Women’s Oklahoma Golf Hall of Fame is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization.

It is the goal of the Women’s Oklahoma Golf Hall of Fame Board of Directors to acknowledge the past by honoring outstanding individuals.  Through fundraising efforts associated with establishing this award, the board has set up an endowment – the proceeds of which will be used for making contributions to promote women’s golf in Oklahoma.  The Women’s Oklahoma Golf Hall of Fame co-hosts the WOGA Girls’ Junior State Championship.

HISTORY

The first members of the Women’s Oklahoma Golf Hall of Fame were inducted at the Inaugural Induction Banquet in 2005.  Hall of Fame Induction Banquets have also been held in 2006, 2008 and 2010.  A total of 17 individuals have been honored for their contributions to women’s golf in Oklahoma.

The Hall of Fame Board also presents two additional awards.  The Jarita Askins Service Award is presented to an individual for their current contributions to women’s golf in Oklahoma and specifically for contributions to the Women’s Oklahoma Golf Association.  The Carol Belcher Collins Sportsmanship Award is presented to a player at the WOGA Girls’ Junior State Championship who displays exceptional sportsmanship.

NOMINATION FOR HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES

Anyone may nominate individuals for induction into the Women’s Oklahoma Golf Hall of Fame.  To receive a nomination form contact the Women’s Oklahoma Golf Hall of Fame Secretary or download here.  The deadline to receive outside nominations will be six months prior to the scheduled banquet date.
